In a bid to find out the talented athletes from the grassroots across the country for the future national youth teams in different discipline, Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) is going to organise Bangladesh Youth Games 2018 for the first time.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith as the chief guest will unveil the logo and mascot of the Games at the Kurmitola Golf Club today at 7pm.
A total of 21 disciplines will be in the maiden edition of the competition for the 17-aged youth athletes.
Football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, kabaddi, handball, athletics, swimming, badminton, shooting, table tennis, squash, karate, taekwondo, wrestling, judo, ushu, weightlifting, boxing, archery and chess are in the disciplines of the meet.
The exclusive competition for the future talents will be held into three phases-districts, divisional and national phase.
The Games will be opened with district level and that it will then be ascended into the divisional level, the initial two phases, which will be conducted by district and divisional Sports Association. Later it will end with the national level competition.
The week-long district level competition will begin on December 18 in 64 districts. The 10-day-long divisional level competition will kick off on January 6. And the national level competition of the meet will get underway on March 9.
The team at each level will be formed by BOA, who will also ensure accommodation, transportation and other facilities during the period of the competition. The best three athletes at each level will be awarded and received a testimonial certificate from the BOA.
