Zahurul Alam, popularly known as Z Alam, former FIFA referee passed away yesterday at BIRDEM Hospital due to old age complications. He was 91.
Z Alam, who began his career in 1955 and continued up to 1980 with reputation, had the FIFA recognition in 1968 and from that he also conducted so many international competitions in home and away.
In his long career, he began his international matches in 1969 with RCD Football International Tournament in Iran, conducted pre-Olympic matches (Asian zone) in Tehran, Merdeka Football tournament in 1973, King’s Cup in 1975 in Thailand and formally retired in 1980.
After his retirement in 1980 he did not leave the sports arena and he was the secretary of the Football Referees Committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) from 1982-2003. He also worked as the Kabaddi organizers from 1908 to 1998 when he was also the vice-president of the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation from 1990 to 2005.
He won the gold medal of Kazi Mahbub Ullah and Zebunnesa Welfare Trust in 1995 for his dedication as organizing s skilled.
He also acted as referee instructors course in Bangladesh and also went to conduct course also abroad.
