Sports Reporter

League leaders Chittagong Abahani Limited will make change in their striking zone for the premier league second-leg when a Brazilian, a player of famous Santos Club has already been in the camp for last one week and last year’s Haitian Lionel also interested to join in the team.

The Chittagong giants, who were aiming to win the title, formed a strong team last season but failed to make their expected success and could manage runners-up trophy, did not exit from their faith and this season also formed a formidable team to reach their goal.

Despite leading the points table after the first-leg, officials cannot depend on two points lead and to exhilarate the team’s spirit, specially, in the scoring line will make change replacing new striker or former one.

Saiful Bari Titu, head coach of the Chittagong Abahani when talking to this correspondent yesterday said, “We are looking for a striker to replace Afeez Oladipo, 14 goals in11 matches, it is very poor scoring rate, so we will have to make stronger the scoring position.”

“Officials are also searching for a foreign striker, by this time a Brazilian came here and Lionel, the Haitian striker, who played last season, also came and expressed his desire to play. The Brazilian is in the camp for last five days, he looked a good attacking midfielder and we are watching him but we need a genuine strike.”

“We have 15 days more, hope by this time we will be able to manage a striker, we need more goals.”

About the next leg, Titu said, “We will have to play more cautiously in next leg, because all the title aspirants will try their best to fight for the championship.”

“Actually we will have to make a fresh start, thinking all the rivals have equal points. We will have to proceed match by match,” Titu revealed about the next phage plan.

Arman Aziz, team official also said that they bring a little change in the squad specially, in the striking zone.

“Yes, we are going to make a change in the team and it will in the striking line, we need a striker but we will give priority to coach’s desires, whether one or two strikers would be included. A Brazilian booter, Ferrari joined the team, who was in the 30 men list of the Santos, the Brazilian league champions.”

Chittagong Abahani finished the first leg on top with 26 points closely followed by Sheikh Jamal Dhammondi Club (24) and Abahani Limited (24), and Saif Sporting Club are also on the race with 22 points.

But none of the teams could keep their unbeaten run when the top four conceded one defeat each.

Chittagong Abahani conceded their lone defeat to their Dhaka counterpart, who were stunned by relegation threatened Farashganj, Jamal to Ctg Abahani and Saif Sporting to Abahani Limited (Dhaka).

Meanwhile, the second window of the inter-club players’ transfer have already been opened from October 15 but any of the teams yet to register any new face.
