Nazmul refutes ‘misunderstanding’ allegation

BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon expressed his surprise about the misunderstanding between the head coach and players, stating that he didn't get any base of the dispute.

"I have talked with our key players," said Nazmul Hassan.

"I have talked with Mushfiq, Tamim and Shakib. But I don't get any reason of dispute between the head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and Tamim or other players," Papon told media at his residence yesterday.

It is rife that Bangladesh in South Africa made the dismal performance in one-day following the shocking drubbing in Test due to the heavily misunderstanding between the head coach and the senior players.

Depicting the matter of Mushfiq's emotional words, Imrul's batting at number 3 position and the conflict between Tamim Iqbal and Hathurusingha, Nazmul said that some of the disputes of the players and coach have been created by media.

"The board didn't interfere in captain's in-field decision. The captain enjoys the freedom to take the in-field decision," Hassan, who is on the verge of the second term in BCB office, said.

"Imrul himself chooses to bat at number 3 position. No one forced him to bat in that place," he also said.

"Even it was told the dispute between the head coach and Tamim Iqbal that is not right at all. It is baseless. Some of it has been created by media," he added.

In the first T20, Bangladesh though lost by 20 runs to South Africa their performance especially the new T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan has been appreciated by the BCB president.

"Shakib led the team very good. Along with this, his decision to bat at number 3 position surprised us. I think that's a good decision," Papon said.

He informed that they will field a specialist batsman in place of a bowler in the tour-ending second T20 match.

Nazmul also informed that they will appoint more quality coaches in future if needed for the team.

Along with that they will arrange more bilateral tours for the young players for the experience and international exposure.
