BARISAL: A court here on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in 2009, reports UNB. The convict was identified as Shah Alam Hawladar, 41, of Uttar Bisharkandi village in Banaripara upazila. The court also fined him Tk 10,000. According to the prosecution, Laiju Khanam, 28, wife of Shah Alam was beaten to death by her husband following an altercation over his extramarital relationship with another woman on January 20, 2009. Dulal Hossain, brother of the victim, filed a case with Banaripara police station on the following day. Manjit Chandra Sheel, sub-inspector of Banaripara police station and investigation officer of the case submitted chargesheet against three people---Shah Alam, Shahida Begum and her associate Yunus Haldar on June 15, 2009.
