Xie Defu is a student from Cambodia. He watched the opening meeting of the 19th CPC National Congress with his roommates on the morning of October 18. Hearing about General SecretaryXi Jinping proposed “bringing about a new phase of all-around opening up”, Xie Defu said, “I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to study in Yunnan,if China hadn’t opened its doors!”

Xie Defu came to study in China five years ago. He has experienced the speed of China’s high-speed rail, witnessed the miracles of Tiangong, Jiaolong, Tianyan (FAST), Wukong, Mozi, and other major scientific and technological achievements. He has personally sensed the changes that the Belt and Road Initiative has brought to Cambodia and China. “In the past few years, China has given Cambodia a lot of support and assistance so that my motherland has made great progress in all aspects. China’s development is a blessing for the countries surrounding it and promotes the world’s development as well.”

Xie Defu said that China has given him not just a scholarship, but also a precious opportunity to study abroad. He hopes that the Chinese government will provide more opportunities for foreign students to come and study in the country. What they learn and see in China will be the biggest wealth in their lives.
