Sports Reporter

Bangladesh A left Ireland A team winless in the series, winning the fifth and final unofficial ODI by 76 runs at the Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox’s Bazar yesterday.

The victory helped second string Bangladesh team take the series by 4-0, after the second one-dayer was washed out. And they also won the lone unofficial Test, making the series a completely disappointing one for the Irish.

Yasir Ali and fast bowler Abu Haider Rony starred in the match to help Bangladesh unbeatable in the series by contributing in batting and bowling department. While Yasir hit a brisk 101 ball-102, Haider claimed three for 38, to complete a series memorable one for him. He snapped up highest 10 wickets in the series which once again brightened his hope to make a comeback in the national team.

Bangladesh A compiled a decent total of 286 for six in the 50-over allocation after opting to bat first and thereafter bowled Ireland A out for 210 in 43.4 overs.

Yasir joined Shadman Islam at the crease in the 15th over, by which time Anamul Haque and Nazmul Hossain Shanto were both dismissed, scoring 13 and 26 runs respectively. Yasir and Shadman added 132 runs in 22.5 overs, with the latter making 68 off 103 balls, with one six and four fours.

Bangladesh A scored 85 runs in the last five overs as Yasir came out from the shell to dismantle the Irish bowling line up in emphatic fashion. He smacked five sixes and eight fours in his 101-ball 102. Barry McCarthy and Shane Getkate snared two wickets each while Simi Singh and George Dockrell grabbed one apiece.

The visitors started poorly, losing Sean Terry and the in-form Andrew Balbirnie in the first 9.2 overs. Thereafter, Jack Tector and John Anderson added 83 runs for the third wicket to bring them back into the contest.

But from 117 for two, Ireland A lost four wickets in the less than eight overs, before eventually getting bowled out for 210 runs in 43.4 overs.
