Man stabbed dead by ‘wife’
A man was stabbed to death allegedly by his wife and children over family feud at Charbaria in the suburb area of Barisal town on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Moktar Bepari, 45, a mason by profession.
Quoting family members, Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kaunia Police Station, said Moktar, father of two children-Mili, 14, and Azizul, 16-had locked into an altercation with his wife Munira Khatun over family feud on Wednesday night.
At one stage, Munira along with her children hit Moktar with sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Police arrested Munira, Mili and Azizul in this connection.

3 arrested with 9.33kg gold   
Members of Detective Branch of police arrested three members of a gold smuggling gang along with 9.33 kilograms of gold from Airport road in the city on Wednesday night.
The identities of the arrestees could not be known immediately. Tipped off, a team of DB North conducted a drive in the area and arrested the trio along with a car and the consignment of gold, said a SMS sent by DB police on Thursday morning.

Rajuk seals off 2 buildings
Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) in a drive sealed off two buildings in the capital’s Gulshan and Banani areas on Wednesday for using residential space for commercial purpose.
A team of Rajuk led by its executive magistrate Jesmin Akhtar raided a multi-storied building at Banani G-Block and sealed it off, said Atiqur Rahman, assistant director(PR) of Rajuk.
Similarly, the magistrate also sealed off five flats of a 6-storey building in Gulshan for using those residential flats for commercial purpose, he said.
The Rajuk team also demolished some unauthorised portion of an under-construction building at Gulshan-2, the Rajuk official said.
Senior Rajuk officials, including director of Zone-4 Oliur Rahman, were present during the drive assisted by members of law enforcing agencies and utility services.

DMC to add 12 more ICU beds
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) would add 12 more beds with the existing 20 at Incentive Care Unit (ICU) next week to provide critical care to a larger number of patients, reports BSS.
Besides, four new operation theaters would be added at the Emergency
Department of the hospital, said a press release.
This was stated at a discussion on the development of DMCH, Sir Salimullah Medical College, Kurmitola General Hospital and Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital at the secretariat with Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim in the chair.

Woman held with 290 yaba pills   
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a woman along with 290 pieces of yaba tablets from Majhgram in Rajshahi on Wednesday.
Tipped off, a team of RAB-5 raided on the house of Sifat Ullah, father of Salma Bibi, 22, and arrested Salma along with the yaba pills around 5:30 pm.
Salma, wife of Azad Hossain of Teknaf upazila, used to live her parents' house and has been involved in yaba trading for long, said RAB.

5 criminals nabbed in Dhaka
Police arrested five suspected drug peddlers along with 30,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from the capital’s Kadamtali Thana area on Wednesday.
“We arrested five drug peddlers, Zohor,38, Abdullah, 30, Parvez, 20, Selim, 26, and Abdur Rahim, 26, from Dakkhin Janatabagh area along with 30,000 pieces of yaba tablets on Wednesday afternoon,” said officer-in-charge of Kadamtali Police Station MA Jalil.
A microbus was seized from their possessions, he also said, adding that the arrestees brought the cache yaba tablets from Cox's Bazar.
Legal action was taken to this end.

Tenant held over murder
Police yesterday arrested a man from Burirdanga area under Mongla upazila of Bagerhat on charge of killing his house owner.
The arrested is Babu Biswas, a resident of Miapara area in Khulna city. Officer-in-Charge of Khulna police station Mizanur Rahman told BSS that they came to know through mobile tracking that Babu was staying at Bagerhat after killing his house owner and arrested him.
