Customs officials arrested a man along with 22 gold bars, weighing 2.56 kg, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Sunday night. The arrestee was M Iqbal, 35, a resident of Satkania upazila of Chittagong, reports BSS. Joint Commissioner (Customs) SM Shohel Rahman said Iqbal arrived at the airport from Chittagong by a Regent Bangkok flight. Being tipped off, a team of customs officials challenged Iqbal while he was passing the domestic terminal of the airport and recovered 22 gold bars concealed inside his shoes around 11:25pm, said the Joint Commissioner.
