Conserving gas

The country is going through a gas crisis. This is sad because earlier hopes were raised about  finding new reserves of gas in already operating or newly located  fields. These were supposedly being readied for production and depending on the same some infrastructures were also set up for urgent gas distribution activities in gas starved areas. But later on the hopes fizzled out from finding no gas there.
Meanwhile, the  crisis from insufficient gas supply is  becoming more acute  among household and industrial users which automatically should bring to the fore the issues of  conservation of gas and optimum use of  what should be considered as the precious  fuel. So far, the tendency has been to misuse or overuse gas as if its supplies are unlimited.
Presently, in many households supplied with gas, the habit of the users seems to be using the same most irresponsibly. The stoves are kept lighted for long hours after cooking is over as  none likes to use an extra matchstick.  Government should  do better to educate and restrain such unconscientious  and reckless household users of gas than putting the squeeze on new applicants for gas connections. The main aim of the government should be to conserve gas and stop its misuse.  Regular publicities need to be put out on the mass media appealing to people and showing them how they can show their patriotism by not misusing gas.
A government survey during the last caretaker government  showed  that only  from some overhauling , repairs and  modifications in industrial  boilers, a huge amount of gas can be saved from waste. In that case, there would be no need  to put on hold the giving of gas connections to new applicants specially in the real estate and industrial sectors.
