A police inspector, also an in-charge of Noyapara Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar, was injured as a group of registered Rohingyas allegedly attacked him over the construction of a shop inside the camp yesterday morning, reports UNB. The injured inspector Kabir Hossain said a group of Rohingya refugees locked in an altercation with police when the law enforcers resisted the forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens to build up a shop inside the camp without prior permission.
At one stage, at least eight Rohingyas swooped on the police team and beat up them with sticks and rod, leaving inspector Kabir injured.
Additional superintendent of Cox's Bazar M Afruzul Haque Tutul said police arrested three Rohingyas, including two women, from the camp in this connection.
On information, Teknaf upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Jahid Hasan Siddique visited the spot. Around 6 lakh Rohingyas have fled Myanmar to Bangladesh since August 25 last to avoid persecution carried out by military forces.
