‘Govt to build memorial at all killing grounds’

NILPHAMARI: Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque yesterday said that the government would build similar monuments to martyrs at all the killing grounds across the country so those are easily identified, reports BSS.

"We have prepared a list of 360 killing grounds," he said while inaugurating Domar Upazila Muktijoddha Bhaban as the chief guest here.

The minister said it is necessary to inspire the young generation with the spirit of the Liberation War for taking the country forward.

He said the government is working to reach freedom fighters' allowances to their homes so that they don't have to go to the banks to collect the allowances.

Haque said the textbooks would be printed with success stories of the liberation war alongside names of Razakars with their heinous activities so that the students can get the right information about the Freedom Fighters and Razakars.

Chaired by Domar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Begum Umme Fatima, the programme was also addressed, among others, by lawmaker Aftab Uddin Sarkar, acting deputy commissioner M Shahinur Alam and local freedom fighters.
