The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday announced a 14-member T20 squad for the two-match series against South Africa.
After the retirement of Mashrafe from this format, this will be Bangladesh’s first series in which Shakib Al Hasan will lead the side.
There were no notable omissions in the squad apart from Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman who were ruled out from the series following their respective thigh and ankle injury. Mominul Haque who stayed for the ODI series will replace Tamim Iqbal. Shafiul Islam earlier replaced Mustafizur Rahman in the team.
Tamim Iqbal will leave South Africa today while Mashrafe and Mustafizur will catch the Dhaka-bound plane on October 23.
Squad: Shakib Al Hasan, Mominul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah Riyad, Liton Das, Nasir Hossain, Mehedi Hasan Miraj, Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Saifuddin.
