Prof Golam Rabbani made new DU proctor
Professor A K M Golam Rabbani of Islamic History & Culture Department has been appointed as the new proctor of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday.
The new proctor will take charge on October 22, DU Vice- Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman told UNB.
Math Olympiad ends at JU
The two-daylong ‘Math Olympiad – 2017’ concluded yesterday on the Jahangirngar University (JU) campus.
Securing the slogan ‘Shomoshay Vabna Joto, Gonit Nia Vabo Toto’ Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC) organised the event at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium on the campus for the forth times in a row.
At the concluding session, JU Vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam addressed the function as chief guest.
Addressing the function, Professor Farzana Islam said, ‘There is no alternative to the practice of mathematics at the era of science and technology. So, from the school level, students will have to stress on mathematics specially’.
She also thanked JUSC for organising such type of event on the campus.
Presided over by JUSC President Shahriyar Kabir Shohag, noted Physicist Professor A A Mamun, Adviser of JUSC Professor Khabir Uddin, Professor Kabirul Bashar, Associate Professor Sharif Hossain, Associate Professor Fokhrul Islam addressed the function among others.
In the meantime, noted scientist, former member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Professor Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir and former chairman of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Professor Dr Naiyyum Choudhury were honoured at the function.
Around three thousand students from more than 60 schools of Savar, Nabinagar and Dhaka metropolitan areas took part at the event while a total of 75 winners at the Olympiad were honoured at the concluding session.
Blood donation programme inaugurates at IU
A 15-day blood donation programme was inaugurated at Islamic University (IU) in kushtia on Saturday on the campus.
The programme organised the voluntary organisation Tarunno under Humanities and Social Science faculty around 11am.
Professor Dr M Shajahan Mondol, department of Law and its organisation moderator was inaugurated the function while Proctor Professor Dr Mhabubor Rahamn, Associated Professor Dr M Monzur Ali, the president of Tarunno of M Monirul Islam and its secretary Wahed Zubery Sizar attend here.
Around the function of various department of one hundred students attend the blood donation programme.
Earlier a colorful procession was brought out from humanities and social science faculty and ended the Science Building of the university.
Seminar on writing thesis held at BRUR
RANGPUR: A day-long seminar on ‘Various Aspects of Writing Thesis’ was held at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) here on Thursday.
Dr Wazed International Research and Training Institute (DWIRTI) of the university organised the seminar on the campus, said a press release.
Vice-chancellor of BRUR and Director of DWIRTI Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah attended the launching session and formally inaugurated the seminar.
Professor of the Department of Bengali of Dhaka University Dr Rafik Ullah Khan as the main discussant conducted the seminar.
Moderated by Assistant Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of BRUR Tabiur Rahman, fellow researchers of DWIRTI, teachers, students and officials of the university participated in the seminar.
In his welcome speech, Research Officer of DWIRTI Ahsan Habib said the seminar was arranged with a view to improve quality of research works being conducted in the institute.
