Indira Gandhi Culture Centre is organising a musical evening by Bulbul Mahalanobish at Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh in the capital today. During Bangladesh's Liberation War in 1971, Bulbul Mahalanobish was a prominent singer of Shwadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, where she also played the leading female character in ‘Jallader Darbar’, an extremely popular episodic radio play written by Kalyan Mitra.
Bulbul started learning music from her childhood from eminent persons namely Shudhin Das, Sheikh Lutfar Rahman, Altaf Mahmud, Nitai Roy, Anjoli Roy, Shukhendu Chakravorty and Pandit Bareen Majumder.
Currently she is the Finance Secretary–Bangladesh National Poetry Council, General Secretary–Rabindra Academy, Vice President–Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Porishad, Member–Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangshad and Publication Secretary–Bangladesh-India Friendship Society.
