3 DU students awarded
Three students of the Department of Law of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded with Prof. Mahfuza Khanam- Barrister Shafique Ahmed Scholarship for their outstanding academic results in LLB Honors examinations of 2014. The awardees are- Masrur Bin Ansari, Tashfiya Tasnim Tisha and Tashmia Sabera.
DU Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the students as chief guest at a function, said a press release.
Seminar on media and armed forces held
National Defence College (NDC) organised a seminar on Media and Armed Forces- Perception and Reality: Bangladesh Perspective at NDC auditorium in Mirpur Cantonment in the capital.
Chief Information Commissioner Professor Dr M Golam Rahman, chief guest of the programme, highlighted various aspects of media and armed forces in Bangladesh.
He focused on the importance of understanding the nature of media and armed forces, identifying the challenges as well as possible solutions and developing an effective framework for the development in the country.
NDC Commandant Lieutenant General Chowdhury Hasan Sarawardy inaugurated the seminar while eminent personalities from both military and civil society were present.
Major General Sarwar Hossain, Brigadier General Shahedul Anam Khan and media personality Farzana Rashid Brownia presented key note papers.
The speakers said, at present, media and armed forces relation faces number of challenges like lack of mutual trust, inadequate knowledge about each others profession, unknown fear of effective engagement, restrictive military polices and unawareness of operational secrecy.
Human chain against poly bags held at IU
A human chain on Anti-poly-bag and horn was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday in front of university main entrance around 11am. The students of Law department organised the chain with the planning of Green Law Club (GLC) of the department ensuring the awareness among the people on the bad effects of using poly bag and horn. Part of the chain they brought out a rally from the Mir Mossarrof Hossain academic building. The rally ended the the main entrance of the university after parading main thoroughfares on the campus. Assistant Professors of the department Armin Khatun, M Anichhur Rahman and students of various departments took part here. Mentioned, the students distributed paper bag among the shopkeepers inside the university.
