Mofazzal Hossain alias Abul Bashar Mofazzal Hossain, a suspected war crime accused from Trishal Upazila of Mymensingh district, was shown arrested for crimes against humanity committed during the War of Liberation in 1971.
Three-member International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) bench headed by its chairman Justice Sahinur Islam passed the order following a petition filed by the prosecution team.
The ICT also asked the investigation agency to submit a progress report before it on December 10 in connection with the case.
Earlier on April 28, Shamsul Haque Bassu, another accused of the case from the Trishal Upazila in Mymensingh, was shown arrested in the case. With the yesterday’s order, a total of two accused has been shown arrested in the case.
Police arrested Shamsul Haque Bassu on January 12 in connection with a killing case while Mofazzal Hossain arrested on July 28 in another case.
Prosecution team applied before the tribunal seeking shown arrested Mofazzal Hossain in war crimes case. After granting the prosecution application the tribunal yesterday passed the order.
According to the prosecution team, the investigation team has found evidence against the 2 over their alleged involvement in wartime crimes in the Mymensingh district.
