A thirteen-day solo painting exhibition titled ‘My Beloved Motherland’ by artist Md Abu Salim will begin today at the Galerie Zoom of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD), Dhanmondi in the capital.
Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman, Department of Law, University of Dhaka and writer Selina Hossain will attend the inaugural ceremony on the gallery premises at 6pm today.
‘My Beloved Motherland’: From the unparalleled colours of six seasons to the innumerable waterbodies beaming with azure blue, Bangladesh—our beloved homeland reigns the artist’s paintings. They also bear witness to the hardships of our people, the calamities they endure and the tribulations they vanquish to make their ends meet. Farmers, fishermen, boatmen and people from various walks of life become ineluctable characters in Abu Salim’s mind and he has tried to capture perhaps a moment from their daily lives.
‘My Beloved Motherland’ is artist Md Abu Salim’s twelfth solo exhibition. The exhibition will feature Salim’s twenty recent works.
After the inauguration, the exhibition will remain open to all until October 6 and can be visited according to the following schedule: Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday (9am to12 noon and 5pm to 8pm), until October 31. Closed -Sunday.
