Police early yesterday arrested four snatchers from the old capital Hazaribagh embankment area while they were fleeing after stabbing two policemen, reports BSS.
“A gang of snatchers stabbed two policemen assistant sub inspector Imtiaz and constable, Golam Azam when a team of patrol police intercepted them at the open field of RH Pump under Hazaribagh Police Station around 3am yesterday”, said sub inspector Kamal Krishna Saha, in-charge of patrol police.
The critically injured policemen were first taken to emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital from where they were shifted to Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital for treatment.
Police captured the criminals, Md Babu, 20, Md Roni, 26, Md Sabuj, 21, and Md Sagar, 20, after a brief chase and seized three chapattis from their possessions, he also said.
The criminals snatched away all the belongings of some day labourers minutes before they were captured following a raid conducted by police after being informed of the matter.
A case was lodged with Hazaribagh Police Station to this end.
