South Korea bag final place in last four

South Korea joined in the top four clash of the ongoing Hero Asia Cup Hockey Championship after defeating China by 4-1 yesterday at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.  

China and the Korea began the game with winning attitude to ensure a place in Super Four phase to join India, Pakistan and Malaysia when both sides managed one victory and suffered as many defeat in their previous two matches. But Korea were in an advantageous position with better goal difference and needed a draw to make room in the last fours.     

It was the first attack from Korea and were very quick to rush inside the edge of the China area and earned a penalty corner, from which Jang Jonghyun converted with a powerful hit (1-0).

China, who were in must win situation, played with all out strategy and completely dominated the proceedings could not exploit of spaces given by the Korean defense when on 20th minute there was an easy occasion for them to equalize the margin. But Lixing Su disappointed failing to push the ball into post having Korean goalkeeper one on one situation very closely.

After a long struggle, China opened the scoring to level the margin on 38th with Talake Du converted a penalty score (1-1) following a great scare before a minute when Korea were about to double their advantage but their (Chinese) custodian denied a penalty stroke.

Korean, continued their counter attacks strategy and superbly succeeded to down China with scoring three more goals when Jang Jonghyun converted his second PC on 42nd minute and Youngjin and Jihun Young joined the celebration of Korean’s conformation to play in the top four contest.
