A mobile court sentenced a DU student to six month imprisonment on Sunday night for giving proxy at the admission test of Jahangirnagar University (JU) under academic session 2017-18
Executive Magistrate Pranab Kumar Ghosh (AC Land) of Savar issued the order as per the Public University Examination (offense) Act 1860.
The detainee was identified as Rakibul Hasan, a first year student of political science department also the resident of Bijoy Ekattor hall.
Executive Magistrate Pranab Kumar said, “At primary interrogation, we found a syndicate connected with Rakibul, we try to trace other members, and most of them are from DU, Eden College and Jagannath University”.
Source said Rakibul was held from the academic building of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering during “B” unit test of first shift.
He appeared at the examination hall addressing him as Joynul Abedin, roll number 214419. Invigilator of the exam hall found some dissimilarity and he was taken to JU Proctor office for further interrogation.
Earlier, A KUET and a JU student were jailed for one month each for cheating in the admission test under a unit on October 9.
