Three films to be screened 
at BSA today

Three films by three local filmmakers --Bashir Hossain, Golam Rabbany Biplob and  Masud Akhond--will be screened today at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital. The films are being screened as a part of the ongoing 16-day ‘Bangladesh Film Festival 2017’.

Among the three films, Bashir Hossain’s comedy and family film ‘13 Number Feku Ostager Lane’ will be screened at 3pm, while Golam Rabbany Biplob’s drama film ‘Swopnodanay’ will be screened at 5:15pm and war drama film ‘Pita’ directed by Masud Akond will be screened at 7.30pm at the same venue of BSA and as well as 63 Districts Shilpakala Academy across the country.    

Released in 1966, ‘13 Number Feku Ostager Lane’, written by Khan Joinul and directed by Bashir Hossain, portrays the hassle between homeowners and lodgers in a home which had become a daily routine for them. The lodgers and their servant were determined that they wouldn't pay their rent. Both of them separately called in their brother and sister, so that they could team up and raise courage in quarrel. The film stars Baby Zaman, Sujata, Sirajul Islam and many others.

On the other hand, ‘Swopnodanay’ is a film about a poor villager, who finds some high priced foreign notes when he buys second hand pants for his son. For exchanging notes easily, he secretly tells his friend. They both trying to get the money and change their poor condition. The film is directed by Golam Rabbany Biplob who also collaborated with Anisul Haque in writing the story. Released in 2007, the film casts include Mahmuduzzaman Babu, Rokeya Prachy, Fazlur Rahman Babu and others.

Besides, ‘Pita’ is a film which story revolves around the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. In the story, along with the heinous and gruesome acts, the Pakistani Military takes away the daughter of a blacksmith with the help of Bangladeshi collaborators. To bring back his daughter, the father follows the jeeps of the military with his swords and knives in order to save his children. Written and directed by Masud Akond, the film was released in 2012.  Alongside Jayonto Chattopadhya and Rafikul Islam, Masud Akond also starred in this film with others.
