Murder case accused killed
An accused of a murder case was hacked to death by a group of miscreants at Lalbagh in the capital on Saturday night. The deceased was identified Paitu Rana, an accused of Sabu killing case.
Maniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Lalbagh Police Station, said a gang of unidentified miscreants swooped on Rana around 8:30 pm and hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
However, the reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, the OC added.

Jamaat leader held with arms   
Police arrested a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from Matikata village in Rajshahi on Saturday night.
Officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station Hifzur Alam Munshi said on information police raided on the house of Hamim, 35, a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami and arrested him from his house.
At that time, police also recovered one foreign pistol, one magazine and four rounds of bullets from his room.

62 arrested in Comilla   
Police in overnight drives arrested some 62 people from different areas under 17 police stations in Comilla early Sunday.
Police conducted drives from Saturday night to Sunday morning and arrested 62 people accused in murder, women repression, robbery, drug and other crimes, said additional superintendent of police Abdullah-al Mamun.
The arrestees were on the run to avoid arrest, the police official said, adding that they were produced before a court in Comilla yesterday morning.

Man killed in road accident
An electrician was killed in a road accident at Choumohoni in Barisal on Saturday night.
Police said the accident took place when a battery-run auto-rickshaw collided with a motorcycle, leaving motorbike driver Titu Hawladar, 36, a resident of Dhamsar village, dead on the spot and the pillion rider injured.
Titu was an electrician by profession, said Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Uzirpur Police Station, adding police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Lions Service Week ends
The fortnight-long October Service Week- 2017 of Lions Club of Rangpur (LCR), District 351A2, ended through providing various services to the distressed and physically challenged people.
Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed attended a free medical camp held at Nilkanathya New Model School in the city on the concluding day yesterday.
Local youths and volunteers donated blood with LCR conducting blood group test, hearing power test, diabetic test and eye vision test and provided medicare and health services to a large number of people in the medical camp. The services also included distribution of wheel chairs, sewing machines, inputs for tea stalls, saplings, medical treatments, treatments to eye patients, blood donation, blood and diabetic tests, distribution of improved foods among children with special needs, educational inputs and other goods among distressed people.
Two seminars on 'Drug and Environment Awareness' and 'We Serve' were also organised at different venues on Thursday in addition to tree plantation programme at Tazhat High School ground in the city on the concluding day.

Twin sisters drown in Comilla   
Two minor twin sisters drowned in a pond of Mohammadpur village in Comilla on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Mariam, 4, and Fatema, 4, daughters of Liton Mia of the village in Gobindapur union.
Quoting family members, Gobindapur union parisahd chairman Nizam Uddin Ahmed said Mariam and Fatema drowned in the pond while they were playing nearby their house. Locals found the twin floating in the pond and recovered their bodies around 11:15 am, he added.
