The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) yesterday set November 1 for next hearing in a case filed against six persons for their suspected involvement in crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation, reports BSS.
The three-member panel headed by ICT Chairman Justice Md Shahinur Islam passed the order upon a plea for seeking more time to place the sixth prosecution witness before the tribunal. Prosecutor Mukhlesur Rahman Badal said the tribunal fixed November 1 for next hearing after accepting time petition for placing the sixth prosecution witness before it as they need more time for taking preparation to this end.
Earlier on April 9, the tribunal indicted six individuals from Netrokona on charges of committing murder, rape, abduction, torture, looting and arson during the Liberation War of 1971.
The six charge-sheeted accused are: Shaikh Md Abdul Majid alias Majid Mawlana,66, Md Abdul Khaleq Talukder,67,Md Kabir Khan, 70, Abdur Rahman,70, Abdus Salam Beg,68, and Nuruddin alias Raddin, 70.
Name of another accused Ahmed Ali, 78, was dropped from the charge sheet as he died.
