Internationally-acclaimed and National Film Award winning film ‘Meghmallar’ directed by Zahidur Rahim Anjan will be screened today at 7:30pm at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital, as a part of the ongoing 16-day ‘Bangladesh Film Festival 2017’.
On the other hand, National Film Award winning ‘Haajar Bachhar Dhorey’, a drama film based on Bangladeshi novelist and filmmaker Zahir Raihan's most popular novel by the same name and directed by Kohinur Akter Suchanda, will be screened at 3pm and ‘Ayna’, a drama film written and directed by Kabari Sarwar, will be screened at 5:15pm at the same venue.
The plot of the film ‘Meghmallar’ is about the conventional portrayal of the Liberation War, and it goes back to August 1971.
Directed by Zahidur Rahim Anjan, the film is an adaptation of a short story by eminent Bangladeshi novelist Akhteruzzaman Elias titled ‘Raincoat’.
The key cast of the film includes the National Film Award winner Shahiduzzaman Selim, Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Zara, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Mosharraf Karim, Aparna and Aditi. Aparna plays the role of female protagonist named Asma in the film.
The 92-minute film based on the Liberation War, had won the National Filmmaking Grant in 2013.
The film received four awards at the 39th National Film Awards, including Best Director, Best Story, Best Dialogue and Best Sound Recording. l
