Truck helper electrocuted
Chuadanga: A truck helper died from electrocution on Housepur-Jamajomi road in Housepur area of Alamdanga upazila yesterday afternoon, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Rahat Hossain, 25, son of Julhas Ali, a resident of Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali district.
Akram Hossain, officer-in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station, said that the wood-laden truck got involved with a wire in the area. Rahat came in contact with the live electric wire as he tried to remove the wire and died on the spot, added the OC.
Mans body recovered in Bbaria
Brahmanbaria: Police recovered the body of a man from Sadar union of Nasirnagar upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
Local people spotted the body under the Dantmandal bridge around 9:30 am and informed police, said officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar Police Station Abu Jafar.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC, adding that the identity of the deceased, aged around 45, is yet to be found.
The body bore injury marks on the chest.
Man held with 10,000 pieces of Yaba in Coxs Bazar
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a man along with 10,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from Jaliapara area of Teknaf upazila in Coxs Bazar district on Friday night, reports UNB.
The arrestee was identified as Anwar Hossain, 55, a resident of Uttar Jaliapara village.
On secret information, a team of Rab-7, conducted a drive in the area around 10:00 pm and arrested Anwar along with the Yaba worth Tk 50 lakh, said a press release.
2 held with fake currency
Sherpur: Police in a drive arrested two members of fake currency gang along with 50 fake currency notes amounting Tk 25,000 from Satpaika area in Char Pakkhimari union of the Sadar upazila on Friday night, reports UNB.
The arrestees were identified as Hamidul Islam, 36, a resident of Morakandi village and Kamol Miah, 35, son of Abdur Rashid, a resident of Dhanuapara village of the upazila.
Mostafizur Rahman, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, who led the drive, said that on secret information, a team of police conducted the drive in the area around 10:30 pm and arrested Hamidul and Kamol from the area.
Drug peddler held with heroin

Police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with one kilogram of heroin from South Buruj Bagan in Sarsha upazila of the district on Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Abdur Rahim, 35, son of Mostafa, a resident of Beniali village of Jhikargachha upazila.
Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station, said being informed a team of police conducted a drive in Abdurs rented house in the area adjacent to Tuni Cinema Hall at around 7:00 pm and arrested Rahim along with the heroin.
Human hauler runs over girl

A girl was run over by a human hauler in Karimganj upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Suraiya Akter, 6, daughter of Hazrat Ali of Mansontush village in Karimganj.
According to police and local sources, the accident took place on Karimganj- Chamta highway at Mansontush at around 9:30am when a battery-run easy bike crushed Suraiya under its wheel while she was crossing the road in front of her house, leaving her dead on the spot.
Mujibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Karimganj police station, said being informed police rushed to the spot and seized the easy bike but the driver managed to flee.
