A college student, who was stabbed by miscreants at Shobharampur area of the Sadar upazila on Friday evening, died at Faripur Medical College and Hospital early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Shimul, 24, a 3rd-year honours student of English department at Govt. Rajendra College, and son of Ishaque Miah, of West Khabashpur in the district town.
Bipul Chandra Dey, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said that a gang of drug addicts took Shimul to a garden adjacent to Shobharampur Bazar and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries early yesterday.
The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
