RAJSHAHI: A fire that broke out at a community centre at Shahebbazar in Boalia of the city on Saturday morning was doused, reports UNB.
Assistant director of Rajshahi Fire Service & Civil Defence Ahsanul Kabir told UNB that the fire erupted at the ground floor of the two-storey Moonlight Garden Convention Centre around 9:30 am and soon engulfed the entire compound. On information, four fire-fighting units rushed in and doused the flame after one and half an hours of frantic efforts. The blaze originated from an electric short circuit, the fire service official added.
No causalities were reported in the incident. The losses and damages from the fire could not be ascertained immediately, he added. However, manager of the community centre MA Mannan claimed that the estimated losses caused by the fire would be worth Tk 2 crore.
