Customs intelligence yesterday arrested a passenger and a ground service supervisor of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and seized 1.2 kilogram gold from their possession at Boarding Bridge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, reports BSS.
“A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Kuala Lumpur landed at Dhaka at 4.30am in the early hours of yesterday. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Customs Intelligence arrested a passenger of the flight and Biman employee while the passenger was handing over the gold to the employee at the Boarding Bridge,” said a press release. The arrestees are passenger Kazi Qamrul Islam and Biman employee Omar Faruque.
In a separate incident, a preventive team of Dhaka Customs House seized 280 cartons of foreign cigarette worth around Taka 6 lakh and arrested one at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
