Girl gang-raped in Laxmipur

Laxmipur: A young girl was gang-raped by criminals at Atakora in Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur district for two days, reports UNB. Police and locals said Anwar Hossian, son of Jahir Uddin of Char Jabber Police Station in Noakhali district, called the girl to his rented room of Abdur Rashids house in the area on the pretext of marriage.
Later, he carried out the sexual assault on her confining her to his rented house for two days. Sensing the incident, Nasir Uddin, brother of Bholakot UP chairman Basir Ahmed and his associate Parvez Hossian, entered the house yesterday afternoon citing arbitration and raped the girl.
Hearing her screaming, locals caught Anwar and informed police. Later, police detained Anwar and took the girl to Ramganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Other accused Nasir and Parvez went into hiding soon after the incident.
