Bangladesh after their humiliating 7-0 defeat to Pakistan in their opening match in the ongoing Hero Asia Cup Hockey Championship will take on India, another Asian giants today at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium at 5:30pm.

The match against Pakistan was a much awaiting encounter for the local fans and there were high expectation with the match before Bangladesh taking on Pakistan and all were memorizing the match result of 32 years back Bangladesh-Pakistan match, when the host played a memorable game to restrict the then World Cup and Olympic champions to 1-0.

This time also Bangladesh is host and began the campaign with high hope but suffered a humiliating 7-0 defeat, though a defeat against Pakistan is very much predicted but the margin was too much unexpected.

However, the match against India will be something to bounce back to present positive approach and to do an acceptable result.

Bangladesh could not practice yesterday morning due to failure of power ahead of today’s match against India and Mahbub Harun, head coach of Bangladesh team was a bit unhappy but said, “We could not practice in the morning but to have a warm up session for a while, swimming and gym. But it doesn’t mean that if we could practice, we can ensure a very good result against India.”

“We will have to perform well in the field, will have to think about the mistakes we did and will have to rise above the wrongs were done in the match against Pakistan,” Mahbub said about the way Bangladesh can do at least a reasonable result against India.

Mahbub Harun, also talked about the reason behind of conceding so many goals against Pakistan when he said, “Boys could not play in accordance with plans, they could not execute what they were taught, most of the goals were gifted.”

Sjoerd Marijne, Dutch coach of India said, “We want to proceed match by match and we have no any special plan against Bangladesh.”

“We have watched their match against Pakistan, we identified some of their mistakes and we did study with those and considering their errors we will set our plans against Bangladesh.”
