NCL fourth round matches end in draws

All the matches of the Tier-1 and Tier-2 of the fourth round fixture in the Walton IoL Smart Fridge- National Cricket League (NCL) at four different venues across the country ended in draws yesterday.

Batsmen showcased their scintillation more than the bowlers as they hit three hundreds on the final day out of the four in the fourth round encounter.

At the Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra, Rajshahi Division declared their first innings for 370-7 in response to Sylhet Division first innings total of 221. National discard Junaid Siddique made a possibility of hundred after Mizanur Rahman, who clattered 143 was named for the man-of-the-match award. Siddique finally got out for 89 off 136 with 11 boundaries.

In reply, Sylhet Division finished the final day to put up 151-2 on the board in their second innings, whereby Imtiaz Hossain clattered a magnificent century. His 160-ball 108 was emblazoned with 14 boundaries and four sixes. Anwar Akbar was at stumps on 36.

Elsewhere at the Shaheed AHM Kamruzzaman Stadium (SKS) in Rajshahi, Khulna Division had got opportunity to bat only 33 overs due to the wet outfield condition. The match was called off due to rain at 1:50pm when Khulna added 119 for one wicket with overnight 22. Mehedi Hasan remained unbeaten on 88 off 133 with 15 fours.   

In reply to Khulna Division first innings 218, Ragpur Division mustered 317 for nine declared with Jahid Javed making 115. Javed clobbered 14 fours and two sixes in his 217-ball knock and was adjudged man of the match.

At the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS) in Khulna, the match between Dhaka Division and Barisal Division was delayed due to rain. Finally the match was called off without being bowled a ball.

Barisal Division managed to garner 299 in their first inning after Dhaka Division’s first innings 250. Therefore, the former in their second innings scored 110 for three on the Day-3. Nuruzzaman was rewarded with the man of the match for his 68 that he made in their first innings.

At the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong, Dhaka Metro set a modest target of 273 for Chittagong Division, who finished the final day to put on 97 for six on the board. Dhaka Metro declared their second innings for 265-3 following their first innings 369-9 declared, in where Mohammad Ashraful clubbed half-century along with Asif Ahmed Ratul and Mehrab Hossain Jr. Former captain Ashraful was named man of the match for his all-round performance.

The visiting team made a possibility of winning the match as they took six wickets inside 97 runs but captain Irfan Sukkur made a dogged resistance and halted the batting collapse. He was at stumps on 21 from 111 deliveries. Chittagong Division in first innings replied having shot out for 261.
