XINHUA, YANGON, Myanmar’s foreign trade through sea route increased by 2.7 billion US dollars in the first half of the current fiscal year 2017-18 (April-March) against the previous year, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported yesterday.
As of Sept 22 since April, the country’s sea-borne trade reached 11.8 billion US dollars, of which its export took 4.4 billion dollars, while its import represented 7.4 billion dollars.
Myanmar’s foreign trade through sea route accounted for 80 per cent, while the remaining is conducted via border gates.
During the first half of 2017-18, Myanmar’s border trade hit 15.2 billion dollars, with its exports exceeding imports at border gates.
