Drug trader held with 5kg heroin
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested an alleged drug trader along with 5kg of heroin worth Tk five crore from Sarengour area of Godagari upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The arrestee was identified as Md Sajemon, 37, son of Md Alauddin, hailing from Hakimpur village of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, and accused in several drug cases.
On secret information, a team of RAB-5 led by additional superintendent of police Sakibul Islam, also company commander, conducted a drive in the area around 6pm and arrested Sajeman along with heroin, said a press release.
Man hurt in attack dies
A man who was injured in an attack by his nephew on September 7 in Sadar upazila of the district, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday.
Police said Abdul Halim, 45 of Bahuli village in Sadar upazila had an altercation with his cousin Abdul Majid over eating a lemon on September 7.
At one stage, Masum, son of Abdul Majid stabbed Halim indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was taken to Sadar Hospital and the doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures on Sunday morning.
