Arrest warrants issued against 23 BNP men

A court in Dhaka on Monday issued warrants for the arrest of 23 BNP leaders, including Khaleda Zia's special assistant Shimul Biswas, in two cases, reports UNB.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammad Quamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order after taking the chargesheets in the two cases into cognisance.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia'a press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan, BNP leader Azizul Bari Helal, Sultan Salauddin Tuku and Saiful Alam Nirob were among the accused.

BNP leaders Amanullah Aman, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel and 15 others secured bail in the cases.

According to the case statement, miscreants set a vehicle on fire near Mirpur Fire Service during the BNP-led 20-party alliance's hartal and blockade programe on March 10, 2015.
