Speaker off to USA to join workshop

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker and Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) executive committee Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, left Dhaka on Sunday for the USA to join a parliamentary workshop, reports BSS.

The workshop will be held at Washington DC, the capital of the USA, from October 10 to 20, organised by Parliamentary Network, said an official release here yesterday. During the visit, the speaker will lead a two-member delegation and meet different agencies of the United Nations (UN) in New York, the release added. The other delegation member is Chairman of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts Dr Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir, MP.

Senior Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Dr Md Abdur Rob Howlader and other senior officials saw the speaker off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Dr Shirin Sharmin is scheduled to return home on October 20.
