Human chain formed demanding punishment

The students of IBA dept of Rajshahi University (RU) formed a human chain in front of IBA Bhaban on the campus yesterday demanding punishment to person responsible for the attack on a teacher of the department recently.

Prof Hasnat Ali of IBA department of the university was assaulted by a MBA student, Nahid Haider on September 25 centring the signing of internship report. A case has also been filled by the victim with Motihar Police station.

In the progarmme they said although 24 days have passed over the incident but no visible action yet to see.

At the programme they also demanded to form probe body by university authorities to investigate and bring the accused under trial  as soon as possible.

However, on 26 September, a section of  teachers led by Economics Dept head Prof Dr KBM Mahbubur Rahman submitted memorandum to pro Vice-chancellor and treasurer respectively. Besides, next day IBA Department teachers and students and also RU Teachers Association submitted memorandum to Vice Chancellor, Prof M Abdus Sobhan, But no visible action has been seen, the alleged.

RU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan said, we are being interogating the matter, punitive action will be taken as soon as possible.
