A group of activists, including leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Chittagong University suspended committee, formed a human chain in front of Shaheed Minar yesterday demanding capital punishment of killers of Taposh, who was a first-year student of Sanskrit department of the university.
Around 100 activists of BCL under the banner of ‘Taposh Smriti Sangsad’ were present at the event.
In the human chain, HM Fazly Rabbi Sujan, general secretary of CU BCL suspended committee said, “Our movement will be continuing till Taposh killers are not hanged”.
Meanwhile, on October 4, a Chittagong court sent the prime charge-sheeted accused in CU student Taposh Sarkar murder case to jail after rejecting his bail prayer.
The order came after Ashrafuzzaman Asha, former cultural secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) CU unit, was produced before the court. Taposh Sarkar, 19, a first-year Sanskrit student and also an activist of BCL CU unit, was shot dead by his rivals at Shah Amanat dormitory during a clash between two factions of BCL over establishing supremacy on the campus on December 14, 2014.
