Amalesh Sen, coach of Abahani Limited football team, died of cardiac arrest yesterday evening. He was 74. He left behind his wife three sons and daughters to mourn his death.
Abahani felt pain in his chest while supervising team’s training session at Abahani ground at Dhanmondi. Immediately after his complain he was taken to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital for check-up. But the doctors without any delay sent him to National Institute of Cardiovascular where the doctor declared him death.
Amalesh, who was a former national team captain, joined Abahani in 1972 and he finished his career from the same club in 1984. Thereafter he engaged himself in team’s coaching and till his death he performed the job. Only for three years he acted as coach for Muktijoddha Sangsad KC.
Amalesh was also a member of Swadhin Bangla Football team which was formed in India during the Liberation War. He also used to play cricket legume in 60s in his home district Bogra.
