Barisal Division still have a deficit of 49 runs against Dhaka Division at the end of the second day game of the fourth round in the tier-1 of the Walton IoL Smart Fridge National Cricket League (NCL) at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS) in Khulna yesterday.
In the other top-tier fixture at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium (SKS) in Rajshahi, reigning champions Khulna Division were bowled out for 218 against Rangpur Division.
Elsewhere at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, Dhaka Metro piled on declared 369 for nine against Chittagong Division in the Tier-2 encounter.
After being called off the day-1, the match between Sylhet Division and Rajshahi Division started at Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra. Sylhet Division batted 40 overs after starting the game at 2pm due to the wet outfield condition and lost six wickets to put on 95 runs on the board.
Dhaka vs Barisal
Resuming the second day at 231 for seven, Dhaka Division finally added only 19 runs at the cost of the remaining three wickets to post 250 runs in their first innings total. Captain Mohammad Sharif converted his overnight 41 to fifty plus score after Rony Talukdar (68). Salman Hossain Emon proved to be the most successful bowler as he added a brace with his overnight two wickets in his kitty.
Barisal Division, in reply, put on 201 for six before the bails were drawn for the day. After making a solid start, Barisal stumbled as soon as crossing the fifty when spinner Mosharraf Hossain Rubel sent back opener Rafsan Al Mahmud and Shahin Hossain in the space of four runs.
Thereafter, Shuvagata Hom dented further damage when he had accounted for captain Fazle Mahmud and Salman Hossain when they were stuttering at 75 for four.
Together with Sohag Gazi, Nuruzzaman stitched together 110 runs for the fifth wicket stand. Shuvagata Hom halted Sohag when the latter was on 73. The national discard clobbered 73 off 77 with 10 fours and one six in his 118-minute stay at wickets.
Nuruzzaman remained unbeaten on 51.
Shuvagata Hom picked up three, while Mosharraf Hossain snapped up two wickets for Dhaka Division.
Rangpur vs Khulna
In the face of the combined attack from Suhrawardi Shuvo and Ariful Haque, Khulna Division were wrapped up for 218, resuming at 77-3.
Shuvo conceded 57 runs to take his four wickets, while Ariful gave away 49 runs to claim his stakes. Leg-spinner Tanvir Haider aided them by a brace.
Even though Mohammad Mithun (27) missed to strike fifty, his overnight partner Anamul Haque Bijoy blasted 61. His 98-ball knock was furnished with nine fours and one six.
After Bijoy, Nahidul Islam cracked 51 off 60 that crossed 200-run mark. Nahidul slammed five boundaries and one six before being caught behind by Dhiman Ghosh off Suhrawardi Shuvo.
