Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited will face the host Kyrgyzstan’s FC Alga Bishkek in their second match in the AFC Cup pre-qualifying round match today.
The match will take place at 6pm (BST) at the Spartak Stadium.
Jamal, who made a very impressive start in the competition with 4-1 victory over Benfica D Macao, will need only a draw to move into the next round.
Sheikh Jamal, who celebrated their successive Bangladesh Premier League championship, just 10 hours before leaving Dhaka for Kyrgyzstan to play their AFC Cup matches, kept up the momentum with a stunning victory in their first time appearance in the Asian top level competition.
Joseph Afusi, coach of Sheikh Jamal in his face book status, said that he will play to win. “Not to draw but will play to win the match. I have seen their match, so I think if my players could play according to their potential, we will win.”
Meanwhile, Shakhwat Rony, who scored two goals in Jamal’s 4-1 win in the previous match said, “We had some favour in the previous match against Macao’s team, as we got the advantage of rain, we could also adjust with the condition quickly.”
“We had some trouble to come back in the match after conceding a goal, so we will try not to go behind first but to take lead. If we would be able to score first then it will be easy for us to win the match and we have that ability,” said Rony to a satellite TV channel yesterday.
The team, who had almost a rest day yesterday, just had a light stretching at the morning.
