A Dhaka court yesterday placed two ‘members of banned Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team’ on an eight-day remand each in connection with the murder of blogger Niladri Chatterjee Niloy.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Molla Saiful Islam passed the order after Inspector Mahbubur Rahman of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police produced the duo before the court with a 10-day remand plea for each.
The remanded two are Sad Al Nahian, nephew of state minister for labour and employment affairs Mujibul Haque Chunnu, and Masud Rana.
Deputy Police Commissioner Mahbub Alam, who is one of the supervising officers of the case investigation, said the duo have already given some important clues during interrogation.
Police arrested the two from Mirpur and Uttara areas of the capital in connection with the murder on Thursday.
