2 killed, 3 hurt in Sirajganj road accident

Two people, including a student, were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Tamai Bus Stand area on Saidabad-Belkuchi in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj yesterday afternoon, reports UNB.

Police said the accident took place when a speedy bus knocked down a CNG-run auto rickshaw around 3:45 pm, leaving three-wheeler passenger Rabbi, 35, son of late Alamgir Hossain, a resident of Delua village in Belkuchi upazila, dead on the spot and injured his four co-passengers. Later, Rima Khatun, 22, daughter of Rohich Uddin, a resident of Pabna district and a 1st year student of Khawaja Yunus Ali Nursing Institute, succumbed to her injuries while being moved to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital along with three others injured, said officer-in-charge of Belkuchi Police Station Sazzad Hossain.

Police seized the bus and arrested its driver Momin Mandal, the OC added.
