To mark the 60th anniversary of the launch of the Earth’s first artificial satellite, Sputnik, Russian Centre of Science & Culture in Dhaka (RCSC), in association with Bangladesh Astronomical Association, has organised an event titled ‘Sputnik Fest’ on the premises of RCSC in the capital today.
The festival features photo exhibition, painting competition, space model making, Astro-Olympiad and film show. Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Dhaka operates under the aegis to the Cultural Department, Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh. It is entrusted with the noble task of establishing non-stop cultural interaction between the two nations, updating the citizens of Bangladesh on the riches of Russian culture, Literature and art enhancing people-to- people contacts, cultural and educational exchanges, promoting ties of friendship and cooperation.
It has already become a tradition that Russian Center of Science & Culture in Dhaka plays host to International Dhaka Film Festival and International Children Film festival. On a monthly basis it organises Russian fiction presentations as well as photo shows.
