Sarkar Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury has been made acting secretary of Finance Division under the finance ministry. An official of the Audit and Accounts Cadre of the BCS 1984 batch, Chowdhury had been serving as the additional secretary of the same division, according to a ministry press release.
Chowdhury obtained post graduate degree in accounting from the university of Chittagong and later received MSc in finance from Birmingham University of the United Kingdom.
He is one of the exponents of Public Private Partnership and was involved in reformation of the budget and financial sector, implementation of IBAS++, and the simplification of pension process for government employees.
He was also member of board of director for different banks and financial institutions including Sonali Bank, Agriculture Bank, and SDF.
