Road crashes kill three in 2 districts

Three people were killed in road accidents in Kishoreganj and Madaripur districts yesterday.
In Kishoreganj, two businessmen were killed and a driver injured in a road accident in sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Mafiz Uddin, 52 and Milan Mia, 50 of Pakundia sadar. Police and local sources said the accident took place on Kishoreganj- Pakundia road in Maria area at about 10:30am when a pick up van collided head on with a passengers bound CNG run easy bike, leaving two passengers including the driver critically injured. Later, locals rushed them to Kishoreganj General Hospital in critical condition where Mafiz and Milan succumbed to their injuries and CNG driver Pasha Mia, 25, admitted to the hospital.
Khandaker Showkat Jahan, officer-in-charge of Kishoreganj police station confirmed the incident. The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said. Although the pick up van was seized, its driver managed to escape from the scene immediately. A case is under process in this connection, the OC added.
In Madaripur, a man was killed and five others injured as a bus hit an auto-rickshaw in the municipality area in Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
Police sources said the accident took place on Dhaka-Madaripur highway around 9:45 am when the Service Paribahan bus hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving Farhad Hossain, 37, a resident of Housdi village of the upazila, dead on the spot and five other passengers, including two women, injured.
