Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra and Farashganj Sporting Club shared points in the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League football when they ended their ninth round in a goalless draw yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Both Muktijoddha and Farashganj are in bottom half of the point table when the former are on 10th position and the latter are in the lowest side out of 12 teams.

Muktijoddha could obtain only six points from eight matches before this match and Farashganj managed only four points from eight outings, for both sides it was very much important to improve their respective position to get out from the relegation threat.

Muktijoddha, who won two matches out of previous eight, one was very much impressive when they came from 0-2 down to beat Rahmatganj by 3-2 and another was a fighting 2-0 against Brothers, who are also on threat with five points.

On the others hands, Farashganj, who returned to premier league after one year suspension for refuse to play, began the league with a huge prospect with a stunning 1-0 victory over the defending champions Abahani Limited but failed to keep up the drive, as after that they could manage two draws. However, to survive from the danger zone both sides looked offensive to earn full three points. In this evenly fought encounter Muktijoddha were a bit better to put Farashganj into pressure but despite open some open spaces could not capitalize the advantages.

After the goalless first, Farashganj looked to bounce back strongly from opening 45 minutes pressure and were about to get the lead right in the second minute after the break but a thunderous right footer of Chinedu Mathew shattered the top corner of the cross piece on 47th when Afzal Hossian unleashed a glorious through-ball between two off Mutkis defenders.

Mutijoddha getting rid of the close call, created two consecutive chances to go ahead but on 66th minute their Egyptian forward Mohammed Zaki Sarhan failed to score goal when the striker close side volley eventually returned to play.

Once again the vulnerability of a Farashganj defense which seemed susceptible to Muktis’ counterattacking pace had been highlighted. Beautifully weighted as Hassanuzzaman Kayes’s pass into an open space separated the defenders and Saikat Mahmud Munna blasted a right foot shot, which just narrowly missed the side post.

The day’s last chance came to Muktis way after a combined attack down the right but forwards failed to finish it successfully on 88th.
