UNODC praises ACC

A delegation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) yesterday praised the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for its various measures to fight graft, reports BSS.

It appreciated the introduction of ACC hotline 106 for lodging graft complaints over phones, its publication 'Dudak Darpan', five-year work-plan, a documentary and its educational equipment after visiting the anti-graft body for the second consecutive day.

Led by Zorana Marcovice, anti-corruption adviser of South East Asia and Pacific Region of UNODC, the delegation today visited the commission's administration, investigation, special investigation, money laundering, legal and preventive wings.

Director Generals (DGs) of the six wings informed the delegation of their activities, implementation process and working plan. At the bilateral meeting, ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said, "It is high time to fight corruption as the government, particularly the cabinet division, is extending all sorts of support to strengthen the ACC and make it independent as part of their political commitment."
