Police in a drive arrested ten suspected Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami-Chhatra Shibir men from Bikrampur Garden City in Kadamtali area of the city on Friday night, reports UNB.
Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Kadamtali Police Station said on secret information that militants were preparing to carry out subversive activities, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 8:30pm and made the arrests from the second floor of a 7-storey building.
According to police, they had gathered there to plan and possibly carry out some subversive activity -a somewhat archaic term still used here to denote any action aimed at harming, destabilising or even overthrowing the state.
