Four killed in road accidents

At least four persons killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Comilla and Sylhet on Friday, reports UNB.
A man was killed as a vehicle hit him in front of Gulistan trade center under Paltan thana in the capital on Friday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Nuru Miah, 50, hailing from Nawabganj.
Bacchu Miah, sub-inspector of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, said that the unknown vehicle hit Nuru while he was crossing road in front of the trade center around 4:30pm, leaving critically injured.
Later, he was rushed to DMCH where doctors declared him dead around 5:15pm.
In another accident, two people were killed when a covered van overturned on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Amir Hossian, 26, son of Arif Mia of Brahmanbaria district and Billal Hossain, 35, a helper of the covered van driver. The Dhaka-bound covered van from Chittagong overturned on the road as its driver lost control over steering at 10:30 am, leaving two people dead on the spot, said Abdus Salam, sub-inspector of Mainamati Highway Police.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. A man was killed and five others were also injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a CNG-run autorickshaw at Sylhet-Tamabeel highway on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Anowar Ali, 27, the driver of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw, son of Mainuddin of Pirer Bazar area in Sadar upazila of the district.
Md Mainul Zakir, Officer-in-Charge of Jaintiapur Police Station, said the accident took place at the area around 9pm when a Jaflong-bound microbus from Sylhet collided head-on with a Sylhet-bound CNG-run autorickshaw from Jaintiapur, leaving six people injured.
